On January 28, 2020, Dawn reported that the Lahore Development Authority could approve the underpass of Firdous Market Gulberg to avoid traffic jams and congestion from Gulberg's Center Point to Cavalry Ground, according to an LDA spokesperson. To facilitate the vehicle to MM Alam Road, a two-lane double-passage underpass near Firdous Market will be built at a cost of 1.8 billion Rs.
The underpass is 540 feet long and special measures are taken for draining rainwater. No existing structures in the area will be affected as a result of the project that acquired about 7 Kanal lands.
DG LDA said that CM Punjab Usman Buzdar will hold the groundbreaking ceremony of Firdous Market on 18-05-2020 tomorrow. It will be the first large project of Punjab Govt in Lahore. Voice Chairman LDA Ahsan Iran and DG LDA Ahmed Aziz Tarar will also attend the event tomorrow. Habib-ul-Haq Randhawa's Chief Engineer briefs CM Buzdar and participants on the completion of the project. The project will be completed in 4 months. Project contracts are awarded to Maqbool Associates.
